Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar called on the Chinese State Councilor, Mr. Dai Bingguo, this evening. During the call, the two leaders discussed important bilateral as well as regional issues, international security situation and matters of mutual interest.

The Foreign Minister conveyed her appreciation for China’s support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity after the NATO strikes on Pakistan’s border posts on 26 November 2011.

The Chinese State Councilor thanked the Foreign Minister for the warm welcome and briefed her about China’s position on various regional and global issues and assured Pakistan of the continued support and cooperation in economic, strategic, defence and other spheres.

The Foreign Minister emphasized that Pakistan fully understood the imperative of peace and stability in the region and looked forward to contributing, as effectively as possible, towards this end.

Both the leaders expressed satisfaction over successful celebration of Pak-China Friendship year 2011. They resolved to keep strengthening future bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
