Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar will visit Rome (31 January- 01 February, 2013) at the invitation of the Italian Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi di Sant’ Agata.
The Foreign Minister will hold bilateral consultations with her Italian counterpart with the objective of reviewing existing cooperation in order to explore ways and means for further deepening the multifaceted ties between the two countries. Later, the two Foreign Ministers will hold a joint press briefing.
Foreign Minister Khar will also co-launch a book “Churches of Pakistan” with Foreign Minister Terzi, at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The book, a pictorial collection of churches in Pakistan, has been translated into the Italian language.
During the visit, the Foreign Minister will also address a select gathering of journalists, analysts and diplomats at an event organized by the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI), a leading Italian think tank based in Rome. The subject of her talk will be “Pakistan’s contributions to peace and security”.
Pakistan and Italy enjoy close and cordial bilateral relations encompassing commercial, economic, cultural and defence cooperation. They share common views on various regional and international issues and are desirous of further widening and deepening mutual beneficial cooperation.
