Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting in Bishkek today.

The Foreign Ministers took stock of the current state of the bilateral relationship and agreed that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s participation in the 2nd Belt and Road Forum in Beijing had provided further impetus to All-Weather Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries. They also agreed that the upcoming visit of Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan to Pakistan will mark another milestone in the bilateral relationship.

The Foreign Minister thanked China for its support in Pakistan’s smooth integration in the SCO. Both Foreign Ministers agreed to continue working together in SCO to achieve its multifaceted goals and objectives.

The Foreign Ministers also discussed important issues impacting regional and global security and expressed satisfaction that both China and Pakistan had identical views. They agreed that meaningful forward movement on reconciliation process in Afghanistan was of paramount importance for overall peace and stability in the region and beyond. The two Foreign Ministers agreed to continue close coordination to handle challenges emerging from the evolving security situation in the region and around the globe.
