Foreign Secretary’s meeting with Ms. Elke Hoff, German Parliamentarian and Head of the German Defence Committee

The German Parliamentarian and Head of the German Defence Committee of the Bundestag, Ms. Elke Hoff, called on Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani today.

The Foreign Secretary welcomed Ms. Hoff’s interest in Pakistan and thanked her for her continued support. This was Ms. Hoff’s seventh visit to Pakistan. The Foreign Secretary briefed her on developments in Pakistan-US relations and the opening of the GLOCS. They exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan, including the post withdrawal scenario after 2014. He also briefed her on Pakistan-India relations.

The Foreign Secretary emphasized the importance of Parliamentary exchanges and proposed the reactivation of the parliamentary friendship group between Pakistan and Germany. The Foreign Secretary also informed Ms. Hoff that Foreign Minister Khar was looking forward to her visit to Berlin. Ms. Hoff thanked the Foreign Secretary and extended an invitation to visit Germany.
