A DINNER reception was held onboard Pakistan Navy Ship PNS Nasr last night at the Muara Port as part of a four-day goodwill visit to Brunei Darussalam.
Present as the guest of honour was Acting Minister of Defence, First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit. Also attending the event was Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad, Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy; and Brigadier (Rtd) Muhammad Zareef Malik, High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Brunei Darussalam; members of the diplomatic community; and uniformed personnel.
Captain Saqib Ilyas, Commanding Officer of the PNS Nasr, welcomed the guests on behalf of the Mission Commander, Commodore Bilal Abdul Nasir, and the crew of PNS Nasr and PNS Shamsheer.
Captain Saqib in his welcome speech lauded the hospitality shown to the Pakistan Navy by the Brunei navy since its arrival to the Sultanate.
“Pakistan and Brunei have enjoyed deep-rooted relations and our people have bonded through strong religious ties,” said the commanding officer.
“This visit of Pakistan Navy ships is also a manifestation of our commitment to foster brotherly relations with Brunei which is strengthening with each day passing,” he added.
The event also saw a cake-cutting ceremony led by the guest of honour and other prominent guests.
The two ships from the Pakistan Navy berthed at Muara Port last Monday as part of a goodwill visit to bolster ties with Brunei.
Brunei and Pakistan frequently conduct exchange of visits at different levels and support each other in international and regional arena.
