Mr. Ahmed Ali Sirohey, Head of Mission of Pakistan called on H.E. Mrs. Moumouni Amina, Nigerien Minister of Energy on June 11.,2020.
During the meeting, HoM was briefed by the Minister on various projects and priorities of government. She informed that overcoming energy shortage is the number one priority of current incumbent. She explained that required power is 800 MGW; whearas 200 MGW is locally generated and 300 MGW is imported from Nigeria. She said that 60 MGW solar power plant are being constructed at Maradi, Dosso and Niamey. Another 89 MGW fuel based plant is about to be completed within six months. The Chinese are building dam on Niger river and 150 MGW hydro power.
Mrs. Moumouni very warmly received the HoM. Minister briefed the HoM about the different development projects including foreign investment in energy sector and long and short term planning/goals of her Ministry. She emphasized that Pakistani investors should avail investment opportunities in Nigerien energy sector. She further informed investors would be provided incentives, tax holiday and custom duty waiver. HOM assured her full cooperation in disseminating information about the opportunities in energy sector for potential investors. Both the dignitaries agreed to increase the cooperation in the field energy.
