The 36th Session of the Conference of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Conference that concluded its session in Damascus on 25 May 2009, adopted a resolution presented by the Foreign Minister of Turkey, Mr. Ahmet DavutoÄŸlu, calling upon the international community to support Pakistan in addressing the needs of the internally dislocated in the country.
The resolution presented by Turkey was adopted unanimously by the Conference of Foreign Ministers. The resolutions calls upon the international community to provide financial and material support to Pakistan in addressing the needs of those internally dislocated in Pakistan. It asks the Secretary General of the OIC to report to the Foreign Ministers on the implementation of the resolution.
The unanimous adoption of the resolution is a reflection of the continued support by the OIC to Pakistan in its efforts to combat militancy, terrorism and violent extremism and in its efforts to address the needs of the internally dislocated.
