14 August 2022, Independence Day/Diamond jubilee celebrations at Kigali

Pakistan High Commission, Kigali celebrated the Diamond Jubilee of Independence Day of Pakistan on 14 August 2022. Flag Hoisting Ceremony was held in the Chancery in the morning. The Ceremony was attended by a large number of Pakistani diaspora in Rwanda. The President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan’s messages on the occasion were read out to the audience. The High Commissioner in his speech highlighted the historical background and importance of 14 August 1947. He said that the Independence Day celebration basically amid at paying homage and tribute to the founding fathers and leaders of the Pakistan Independence Movement for their sacrifices that led to the creation of an independent homeland for the Muslims of the sub-continent. The audience was also addressed by the new Chairman of the Pakistani Community Association, Hafiz Muhammad Irfan.  In the evening, the Mission and Pakistan Community Association, Rwanda, Co-hosted a graceful reception. The programme included national songs, quizzes and children performances. This was followed by a gala dinner.  The reception was attended by around 200 Pakistani community/families.
