A Flag hoisting ceremony was held to mark the 70th Independence Day of Pakistan. A large number of Pakistani community, including women and children participated in the event. The Charge d’ Affaires in his speech highlighted key points of Pakistan’s movement, especially the role of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in the creation of Pakistan. He called upon the notables of the community to raise the issue of the recent brutal use of forces against innocent Kashmiris in the IOK and importance of peaceful resolution of the dispute according to the UNSC resolutions. During the course of the event, Pakistani students, especially children performed various national songs.

In the evening of 14th August, Welfare Association of Pakistanis (WAP) hosted a reception in a local hotel which was attended by around 400 people (including families). The event included speeches on Pakistan movement, role of the founder of Pakistan and other leaders, socio economic development, Pakistan’s role in the war against terrorism, Kashmir dispute etc.
