The Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated in Brazil today with patriotic zeal and zest. The resident Pakistani community, Brazilian nationals along with Officers and Staff of Pakistan Embassy witnessed the flag hoisting ceremony organised at the Embassy of Pakistan in Brasilia and joined in singing the national anthem.
Messages of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out on the occasion.
The Speakers including the Community Representative, Defence Attache Brig Mohammad Yousaf, Commercial Counsellor Intikhab Alam and First Secretary Azeem Ullah Cheema highlighted the historical significance of the day and paid rich tribute to the Founding Father and heroes of freedom struggle of Pakistan whose sacrifices led to the creation of a separate homeland for the Muslims of sub-Continent. Master Ammar Saqib represented the Pakistani youth and vowed to keep working towards a stronger and prosperous Pakistan.
Ambassador Najm us Saqib while highlighting the numerous security and economic challenges facing the country, urged the Pakistani community to renew their commitment to keep serving their homeland with full devotion and dedication. He also expressed satisfaction on the working of Pakistan-Brazil Association (PBA) that was formed last year on the 14th of August for the welfare of Pakistanis overseas. At the end of the ceremony, prayers were offered for the prosperity and progress of Pakistan.
Later in the day, the Ambassador interacted with journalists from leading print and electronic media of Brazil and briefed them about a number of steps taken by the Government of Pakistan in bringing peace and stability in the South Asian region. The journalists from Correio Braziliense, Brasilia in foco, Tv Globo, Fala DF and Metroples DF etc thanked the Embassy of Pakistan for inviting them to the Independence Day Celebrations and the first hand briefing on Pakistan’s foreign policy and investment opportunities in Pakistan. In particular, they evinced interest in the growing Pak-Brazil relations and wished both the countries a bright future.
