Embassy of Pakistan and the esteemed members of the Pakistani community living in Vietnam celebrated 72nd Independence Day of Pakistan in Ha Noi, Viet Nam. A flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the premises of the Embassy of Pakistan, Ha Noi. Ambassador of Pakistan to Viet Nam & Laos, His Excellency Mr.Zaigham Uddin Azam raised flag of Pakistan, while national anthem of Pakistan was being played. Members of the Pakistani community, embassy officials and their families attended the ceremony.

Messages by the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan on the occasion of the 72nd Independence Day of Pakistan were read out to the people attending the ceremony.

Ambassador Azam, while addressing the august gathering in Urdu, highlighted importance of the Independence Day of Pakistan and mentioned the valiant struggle that led to the creation of Pakistan. The Ambassador also underscored that the new government of Pakistan was geared to make Pakistan a progressive and social welfare state, as it was envisioned by the Quaid-e-Azam.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Azam also briefed the members of the community on the current state of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Viet Nam, which are on a positive trajectory. He underscored that during the last four years, bilateral trade of Pakistan and Viet Nam has more than doubled to reach the mark of $728 million. However, he said, the Government of Pakistan is working hard to take the bilateral trade to $1 billion by 2020.

Pakistani community in Ho Chi Minh City, the largest city of Viet Nam and the community in Vientiane, capital of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic also celebrated the 72nd Independence Day of Pakistan with traditional fervor.
