Joint Statement – Pakistan – Netherland’s Bilateral Consultations

Mr. Karel Van Oosterom, Director General for Political Affairs of the Netherlands, and Mr. Abdul Basit, Additional Secretary for Europe, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, met in Islamabad on 19 October 2011 for the Second round of Annual Bilateral Political Consultations on global, regional and bilateral issues of mutual interest.

The Ambassador of the Netherlands to Pakistan, H.E Mr. Hugo Gajus Scheltema, also attended the consultations.

Both sides expressed satisfaction that the process of institutionalized annual consultations, which started in The Hague on 1 July 2010, was contributing to better understanding each other’s perspective and deepening partnership between the Netherlands and Pakistan.

The two sides discussed issues of bilateral interest, regional situation, and proposals to enhance bilateral cooperation.

The next round of consultations will be held in The Hague in 2012.
