An event was held at the Embassy of Pakistan, Abu Dhabi today to observe “Kashmir Black Day”. A large number of Pakistani-Kashmiri community in the UAE congregated in the premises of the Embassy of Pakistan, Abu Dhabi, to express their solidarity with their Kashmiri brethren and condemn the human rights violations being committed by India.
Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Ambassador Moazzam A. Khan said that Black Day was observed to remind the nation and the world about illegal occupation of Kashmir and highlight the plight of the Kashmiris in Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK). He said that, on that day, the people of Pakistan renewed their resolve to continue their support for the Kashmiri brothers and sisters till their legitimate aspirations for realization of right to self-determination is achieved in accordance with the UN resolutions and their wishes. Ambassador noted that continuous incidents of human rights violations, desecration of human lives, rapes and depriving the children of their eye-sights were against the basic principles of human dignity. He said no state could be allowed to trample the established principles of humanity at the altar of its vested political interests.
H.E. Ambassador Moazzam A. Khan said that the Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK) could never be regarded as internal issue of India, as the United Nations had already declared the IOK as disputed territory. He said that Pakistan has always forcefully raised the Kashmir issue at all international forums including the UN. This year, the Prime Minister highlighted the persistent human rights violations in Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK) at the UN, terming India’s role in the region the “most intense example of foreign occupation”. Pakistan has also urged an “international investigation into India’s crimes in Kashmir”. He said that the Government of Pakistan would continue its moral, political and diplomatic support to the genuine struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right of self-determination.
The audience was also shown a documentary on the Kashmir Black Day. A photography exhibition was also arranged for the audience. The event concluded with special prayers for the Kashmiri martyrs and success of struggle.
