“Ever since the Indian forces landed in Srinagar to occupy Jammu and Kashmir 72 years ago, the repressed, oppressed and brutalized people of the Valley are looking towards the international community for justice. People of Jammu and Kashmir are waiting for the international community to fulfil its promises made through UN Security Council’s multiple resolutions, demanding a free and impartial plebiscite for Kashmiris to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination. Surviving under the continued clampdown, the Kashmiris are demanding freedom from the occupied security forces while urging the international community to wake up to their call against the inhuman treatment meted out to them for over seven decades now”, Ambassador of Pakistan in Brazil His Excellency Mr. Najm us Saqib remarked during a function organised at the Embassy of Pakistan in Brasilia today, to commemorate the Kashmir Black Day.

The Ambassador also reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued diplomatic, moral and political support to the just struggle of the people of Kashmir.

Speakers including Representative of the Kashmiris in Brazil, President of Pakistan-Brazil Association, Defence Attache Brig. Mohammad Yousaf and First Secretary Azeem Ullah Cheema highlighted the historical significance of the 27th October; expressed complete solidarity with the people of Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir; condemned the continued brutal use of force by the Indian Occupation Forces and New Delhi’s illegal steps taken on and since 5 August including imposition of strict curfew and complete lockdown of the Valley,

During the function, messages of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan were also read out.

At the end, the Pakistan Brazil Association (PBA) presented a Resolution in favour of ending Indian atrocities in the Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir region and demanding implementation of the relevant UNSC’s Resolutions.

The 27th of October is observed the world over as ‘Black Day’ as 72 years ago, on this day, India without any legal justification, forcibly took control of the State of Jammu and Kashmir. Since then, the Indian Occupied Forces are mercilessly killing innocent and unarmed Kashmiris, vandalising their properties and indulging in other inhuman acts.
