A well attended function was held in Quaid-e-Azam Auditorium of Embassy of Pakistan in Kuwait this afternoon to express Solidarity with the Kashmiri people. Despite being a holiday in Kuwait, a sizeable presence of Pakistani community including community members hailing from Kashmir participated in the function to show their support to our Kashmiri brothers and sisters and protest the atrocities being committed by the Indian Occupation Forces in IOK.
A reputed Pakistani poet Mr. Kashif Kamal presented a specially written poem for the occasion. It was greatly appreciated by the audience.
Ambassador Ghulam Dastgir in his remarks, highlighted the plight of the Kashmiri people especially the recent increase in atrocities by the Indian Occupied forces and explained Pakistan’s principled position on Kashmir based on UN resolutions. He highlighted the Prime Minister’s condemnation of the gross human rights violations of innocent Kashmiris, including the basic human right to life and health, and the Prime Minister’s emphasises that Indian attempts to label the legitimate Kashmir struggle terrorism cannot deter the valiant people of Jammu and Kashmir from their demand of exercising their right to self determination in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions.
He further reiterated the Government and people of Pakistan’s principal position and historic commitment to continue to extend moral and diplomatic support and advocate the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The function concluded with unanimous expression of support to the just cause of the Kashmiri people and prayers for the progress, solidarity and prosperity of Pakistan and success of the valiant people of Kashmir in their struggle for right to self-determination.
Earlier, the Ambassador in an event organized by Kuwait-Pakistan Friendship Association, which was also attended by a number of prominent Kuwaitis, highlighted the recent upsurge in violence by the Indian Occupation Forces.
The local media including electronic media, gave wide coverage to the events including special interviews of the Ambassador.
