A simple, dignified ceremony was held at the Consulate General of Pakistan in Milan on Thursday, February 4, 2021 to express solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). About 50 members of Pakistani community participated in the ceremony. Hundreds more participated online through Mission’s Facebook page as the programme was livestreamed in view of Covid-19restrictions.

After recitation from Holy Quran, national anthem of Pakistan and Kashmir anthem were played.His Excellency Mr. Jauhar Saleem, Ambassador of Pakistan to Italy, addressed the audience through video-link. The Ambassador read out the messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day. He stated that Kashmiri people in IIOJK continue to face the Indian state oppression with bravery and courage. He said that Pakistan stands with its Kashmiri Brothers and Sisters and would continue to do so till they attain their inalienable right to self-determination. He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering diplomatic, moral and political support to the oppressed people of IIOJK. He encouraged the members of the Pakistani community in Italy to continue to raise their voice in favour of people of IIOJK. A video message of His Excellency Sardar Masood Khan, President of Azad Jammu & Kashmir sent for the occasion was played for the audience in which he appreciated the efforts of the Pakistani community in Italy for raising their voice for the oppressed people of IIOJK.

In his address to the gathering, Consul General Dr. Manzoor A. Chaudhry stated that the United Nations resolutions have clearly given the right of choice to people of Kashmir and a plebiscite must be held without delay enablingKashmiri people to decide their future. He denounced Indian occupation forces for brutalities wrecked on unarmed Kashmiri people. He demanded that world nations must meet their obligation and press India to honour its commitment to the world. He reiterated Pakistan’s continued diplomatic, moral and political support to the people of IIOJK. He also appreciated members of Pakistani community in Italy for their continued support to Kashmiri people.

Prayers were offered for independence of IIOJK from the Indian occupation. Light refreshments were served at the end of the programme.
