Meeting of Deputy High Commissioner with South African Police Services (SAPS) at DIRCO

Deputy High Commissioner Mr. Adnan Javaid, held a meeting with South African Police Services (SAPS) officers, on 4th October 2019, at Department of International Relations and Cooperation, Pretoria, Republic of South Africa. The meeting was arranged by Department of International Relations on the request of the High Commission.

Deputy High Commissioner recalled the xenophobic violence and requested the Police authorities to share the update on the investigations of the eight victims of violence from the Pakistani community, who approached the High Commission following the riots. The Police Department conveyed that only three out of eight complainants got registered the cases which are being investigated. They promised to share the outcome of the investigations upon finalization of the cases.

The Police Department solicited the cooperation of the Pakistani community that the case must always be registered to be shared with the concerned department with complete details of the case number, date of registration of the case and concerned Police Station.

Both sides agreed to continue the engagements to further deepen the relationship to handle such cases of violence against Pakistani community.
