The Noble Peace Laureate Ms. Tawakkol Abdel-Salam Karman, called on the Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs in his office today. She was accompanied by Yemeni Ambassador Mr. Ahmed Qaid Al-Horary. Ms. Karman briefed the Advisor to the Prime Minister about the present situation in Yemen and solicited Pakistan’s support for international efforts towards resolving the crisis. Advisor to the Prime Minister assured her Pakistan’s continued support for UN-sponsored endeavors towards bringing peace and stability in their country. The visiting Noble Laureate thanked the government of Pakistan for assistance amounting to 1 million US dollars for rehabilitation efforts in Yemen.
2. Advisor to the Prime Minister briefed Ms. Karman about the ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azab and its positive results which had eliminated terrorist’s networks. He also spoke about economic gains program achieved after improved security environment in the country. The focus of the present government was to strengthen good relations with our neighbouring countries and promote regional connectivity in transport, energy and trade. Advisor to the Prime Minister specially mentioned about China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) concluded recently which would improve regional connectivity between South Asia, West Asia and Central Asia.
3. Ms. Karman is a journalist, politician and human rights activist who was awarded Nobel Peace Prize in 2011being first Arab woman and second Muslim woman to win a Nobel Prize. She is co-founder of “Women Journalists Without Chain.”
