On the occasion of 78th National Day of Pakistan, an impressive flag hoisting ceremony was held at Pakistan Embassy at Male.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Vice Admiral (Retd) Waseem Akram congratulated all Pakistanis on this auspicious day. Highlighting the importance of the day he said that on 23rd March 1940 Muslims of sub-continent under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam, Mohammad Ali Jinnah adopted a Resolution for the creation of Pakistan. Within a short period of seven years with a slogan “Pakistan Ka Matalab Keya” “La Illah Il Lallh” Muslims of Sub-continent were able to realized their dream in shape new nation and new country Pakistan. Against all odds at its inception Pakistan, survived as Sovereign and Independent state and now is most important country of South Asia which has great future ahead. In these circumstances, it is now incumbent upon us to make Pakistan a truly Islamic Welfare State as envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam.
Talking about Pakistan-Maldives relations, the Ambassador said that both Muslim countries of South Asia are tied together; with religious, economic and cultural bonds. He highlighted that with every passing day the bilateral relations between two states are gaining more depth due to convergence of interests on all fronts.
Earlier, Head of Chancery Mr. Shahid Mehmood read out messages from the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Pakistani students residing in Male sang Pakistani national songs. The ceremony ended with the distribution of the certificates and the gifts to the students by the Ambassador.
