On the auspicious occasion of National Day of Pakistan, a flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Embassy of Pakistan, Prague, Czech Republic. Ambassador Muhammad Khalid Jamali hoisted the flag and messages by the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out. Since the day coincided with 1st Ramdan, a special prayer for progress and prosperity of the country was also held.
The President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi, in his message felicitated the entire Pakistani nation. On this day in 1940, Muslims of the sub-continent passed the Pakistan Resolution and made the demand for a separate homeland where they could freely lead their lives in accordance with Islamic ideals. While paying tribute to the founding fathers, whose struggles and sacrifices led to the creation of Pakistan, the President highlighted the role of our state institutions in defending the country, achieving nuclear deterrence, curbing terrorism and overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic, despite all odds.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in his message highlighted that 23 of March as an epoch-making day in our national history that reminds us of our past, invites us to ponder over our present state to affairs and inspires us to build a prosperous future. While drawing attention to the present challenges faced by the country, the Prime Minister mentioned that Pakistan is destined to achieve great heights. However, for this to become a reality, we have to forge unity in our ranks, equip ourselves with national purpose and vow to wage a struggle in line with the legacy of our forefathers.
While we celebrate the National Day, our hearts are profoundly grieved by the sufferings of people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJ&K), who are facing military siege for the past three years. We stand firmly behind our Kashmiri brethren in their struggle for their right to self-determination.
