The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Budapest, Hungary organized a function at the Sofitel Hotel, Budapest to commemorate the National Day of Pakistan on 23rd March 2017. More than 250 guests including senior dignitaries from the Hungarian government, the diplomatic corps, academia and numbers of the Pakistan community as well as a very large number of Pakistani students in Hungary attended the event.
Following the formal opening with national anthems, Ambassador Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi gave a brief overview of Pakistan’s bilateral relations with Hungary. He noted that it was the intention of both the countries to further strengthen and broaden these relations and that there existed tremendous goodwill on both sides. The next round of Bilateral Political Consultations is scheduled to be held in Islamabad on 11 April 2017. Pakistan also deeply appreciated the provision of 200 scholarships to Pakistani students every year, under the Stipendium Hungaricum Programme. The Hungarian company MOL was doing great business in Pakistan and Pakistan hoped to attract more Hungarian companies.
A cake cutting ceremony was also held to celebrate the friendly and cordial relations between the two countries. A slideshow depicting Pakistan’s rich history, culture, touristic and entrepreneurial potential was also screened. Culinary specialities of Pakistan’s various provinces and regions were also served, which were greatly appreciated by the participants.
