The Embassy of Pakistan in Dushanbe, observed 74th Independence Day of Pakistan in the Chancery building today.

The ceremony started with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by hoisting of the Pakistani flag with the national anthem by Ambassador Imran Haider. Messages of President and Prime Minister were read out by the Ambassador and the Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Shahid Ali Seehar, respectively.

In his remarks, Ambassador Haider congratulated the Pakistani community in Tajikistan on the occasion of 74th Independence Day and paid rich tributes to the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and leaders of Pakistan Movement who achieved independence of Pakistan despite all odds. He condemned the illegal Indian acts of 5th August 2019 that deprived the disputed region of IIOJK of its special status which is a clear violation of international law, UNSC Resolutions and tantamounts to demography apartheid. He urged the international community to take cognizance of right of self-determination of Kashmiris and the Indian brutalities in IIOJK

The ceremony was attended by a large number of Pakistani community members based in Tajikistan along with families. Pakistani children also performed on the occasion by singing national songs, reciting poetry and speeches highlighting the struggle for independence of the motherland.

On the occasion, the Chancery building was adorned with Pakistani flags. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Dua was offered for peace and prosperity of the country and for success of Kashmiris struggle for the right of self-determination.
