Mr. Iyad Ameen Madani, OIC Secretary General paid a visit to Pakistan on 26 August 2015 and held a meeting with Mr. Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Both sides discussed the global challenges confronting the Muslim Ummah.

It was Mr. Madani’s third visit to Pakistan in his capacity as Secretary General of the OIC. Earlier he visited Pakistan in August and December 2014.

The Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs highlighted efforts of the Pakistan Government to root out terrorism and extremism. He also briefed the visiting dignitary on the Prime Minister’s vision of a peaceful neighborhood; and Pakistan’s desire to have good relations with all its neighbours.

The OIC Secretary General appreciated Pakistan’s role in the fight against terrorism and its policies for a peaceful neighborhood.

The Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude to the OIC Secretary General for the Organization’s consistent support for the people of occupied Kashmir, over the past two decades, in their struggle for self-determination.

The two sides also reviewed preparations for the 1st OIC Summit on Science & Technology and 15th Session of General Assembly of COMSTECH, to be held in Pakistan in November 2015.

Pakistan attaches high importance to its relations with the OIC and being a founding member of the OIC, has always played an active role in promoting, protecting and projecting the cause of Muslim Ummah in the world community.
