Pak-Algeria Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC)

Additional Secretary, Ambassador Ali Javed, held the 3rd Round of Bilateral Political Consultations virtually hosted by his Algerian counterpart, Director General Asia and Oceania of Algerian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Boumediene Guennad. The 90-minuts virtual engagement reviewed the complete spectrum of Pak-Algeria bilateral ties.

During the dialogue, Additional Secretary Ali Javed highlighted Prime Minister’s vision to enhance engagement with Africa, as manifested by the Policy initiative, ‘Engage Africa’ launched by the Foreign Minister in December 2019. The policy initiative is aimed at augmenting diplomatic outreach and trade relations with Africa.

Additional Secretary Ali Javed briefed his counterpart on Pakistan’s contribution to Afghan Peace Process. He also highlighted gross human rights violations in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He appreciated Algeria’s principled support in OIC and the United Nations for Kashmiris.

Both sides expressed a desire to further deepen bilateral political, economic and parliamentary exchanges. As discussed between both sides, meeting of the Joint Ministerial Commission is expected to be convened in 2021 in Islamabad.
