“It is time that Pakistan and Brazil exploited the real potential of cooperation between the two friendly countries in various fields especially in the areas of economic and bilateral trade”, H.E. Ambassador Marcos Galvao, Secretary General of the Brazilian Foreign Office stated today. Fully agreeing with the Secretary General, the Ambassador-designate of Pakistan to Brazil, H.E. Ambassador Najm us Saqib, floated a couple of ideas to identify additional areas of cooperation through bilateral high level interaction, exchange of delegations and people-to-people contact.
Ambassador Galvao warmly received the Ambassador-designate of Pakistan today at the Brazilian Ministry of External Relations. Ambassador Ary Quintella, Director and Counsellor Rodrigo Caravalho, Chief of Asian Division also attended the meeting, during which, the Ambassador-designate presented copies of his Letter of Credence to the Secretary General. The formal presentation of credentials’ ceremony is expected to be held in Brasilia next month.
Referring to the Fourth Round of Bilateral Political Consultations between Pakistan and Brazil, held in Islamabad in March this year, Ambassador Ary Quintella stated that arrangements for finalizing two cooperation Agreements were almost complete. Both sides also discussed the possibility of establishing a Joint Commission between the two countries.
Ambassador Najm us Saqib proposed to have a high level official visit from Brazil to Pakistan early next year to finalize the proposed documents. The Secretary General accepted the Ambassador’s invitation and wished to undertake a visit to Pakistan soon.
Pakistan and Brazil enjoy cordial and friendly relations. Brazil is an important country of the world with membership of BRICS and G-20 and a GDP of US$ 3.2 trillion.
