Mr. Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Foreign Secretary of Pakistan, and his Japanese counterpart Mr. Shinsuke Sugiyama, Deputy Foreign Minister of Japan, met in Tokyo on 25 March 2015, for the 9th Round of Bilateral Political Consultations.
On the occasion, both sides reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations from political to economic and investment cooperation, exchanged views on regional and global issues as well as discussed cooperation at multilateral forums.
Mr. Chaudhry briefed his counterpart on Prime Minister’s vision of a ‘peaceful neighborhood’ underscoring the efforts made by Pakistan to promote friendly and cooperative relations with all neighbors. He also briefed Mr. Sugiyama on the government’s economic and structural reforms and the efforts being made to counter terrorism with full support of the whole nation.
The two dignitaries expressed their satisfaction at current trajectory in the bilateral relations and agreed to maintain the momentum through continued high level exchanges and concrete steps to further improve commercial and investment relations between the two countries.
Earlier, the Foreign Secretary paid a courtesy call on Mr. Minoru Kiuchi, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan who expressed satisfaction on the current level of bilateral cooperation.
Foreign Secretary also recorded interviews with leading Japanese dailies and is scheduled to interact with major think tanks in Tokyo to project Pakistan’s perspective on issues of common interest to Pakistan and Japan.
