In a ceremony held at the Embassy of Suriname in Brasilia today, Foreign Minister Hon. Yldiz Pollack-Beighle received the Ambassador of Pakistan to Brazil H.E. Mr. Najm us Saqib and received a copy of his Credentials as the Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Suriname. The Government of Suriname is organizing the Credentials Ceremony in Paramaribo, Suriname in mid-March 2018 to receive Credentials from various Ambassadors who are accredited to Suriname. Ambassador Najm us Saqib is also scheduled to attend the Ceremony.

Subsequently, Foreign Minister Beighle and Ambassador Saqib held a detailed meeting and reviewed the current level of bilateral relations and agreed to exchange trade delegations involving private sectors of both the countries in order to identify specific areas of cooperation in the trade field. Both sides also decided to explore additional avenues of cooperation between the two countries especially in the economic domain.

Pakistan and Suriname enjoy cordial and friendly relations. Both countries share views on international and regional issues and work closely in the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC).
