The Government of Pakistan has strongly condemned the attack on the Saudi Consulate General’s car in Karachi on 16 May 2011, resulting in the death of an official of the diplomatic mission.

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar spoke to the Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al Faisal on phone and expressed her shock and anger over the killing and assured that a full investigation into the incident was underway and that perpetrators of the crime will be brought to justice.

The Minister of State expressed her profound sympathies for the family of the deceased Saudi official.

She has reiterated that Pakistan condemns terrorism and such incidents will not weaken the resolve of her government to root out terrorism from the country.

The Government of Pakistan will take all necessary measures to ensure the security and protection of diplomats in Pakistan.
