Speaking at a Security Council meeting on Yemen, Minister of State/Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Tariq Fatemi, expressed full support of Pakistan to the efforts of President Abdrabuh Mansur Hadi, aimed at peace and security in Yemen and at normalization of the situation. He said that the people of Yemen deserved credit for shunning violence and choosing the path of dialogue and engagement.

Mr. Fatemi expressed the hope that Yemenis would continue to work with a spirit of compromise and cooperation to conclude the process of transition, leading to elections in February 2014. He reiterated his Government’s full support for Yemen’s efforts aimed at national reconciliation and political transition.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi is currently in New York with the Prime Minister to attend the 68th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
