The annual Pakistan Food Festival was held at the embassy lawns, today. The Embassy was specially decorated for this gala event. A number of stalls of Pakistani handicrafts, jewellery and food were setup.

A small segment of the embassy lawn was also utilized for an exhibition of photographs of the atrocities being committed by the Indian security forces in Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK). The exhibition was viewed by the participants.

The event provided an opportunity for the guests to purchase Pakistani handicrafts and experience Pakistani cuisine. The audience also listened to the traditional Pakistani music. Two Dhol beaters performed during the day and guests danced to the traditional Pakistani music and performed Bhangra.

A special children play area with slides, amusements games, climbing walls attracted a large number of children and drew a large participation.

The event raised 1000 for the friends of Citizen Foundation that would be used for the primary and secondary education of girls and boys in Pakistan.

In his speech, the Ambassador spoke about the rich Pakistani culture and hospitality. He made the audience aware of the emerging challenges in South Asia and elaborated on the human rights situation in IoK. He called upon the international community to play its due role in addressing the situation of the Kashmiri people and working towards lasting peace and security in the region.

The event was widely attended by the general Italian public, journalists, diplomats, Pakistani community and friends of the Embassy.
