The Consulate General of Pakistan, Chengdu and the Chengdu Foreign Affairs office jointly organized a Pakistan Food Festival in Sichuan’s capital city, Chengdu. The Food Festival was inaugurated with an iftar dinner organized at city’s prestigious hotel, Shangri-La.
While speaking at the iftar ceremony, Pakistan’s Consul General, Muhammad Mudassir Tipu underscored that, “the food festival was part of an effort to introduce Pakistan’s culture and cuisine in the vibrant and dynamic city of Chengdu”. He added that: “Cooking a traditional Pakistani food is an art; a passion; a devoted endeavor; and a patient engagement. There has to be an extremely delicate mix of multiple spices; the food has to be heated with great precision and has to be impeccably tasty with various strands of ingredients creating their own unique taste in our mouths’.
The Vice Mayor of Chengdu, Niu Qingbao, was Chief Guest at the ceremony. Lauding Consulate General in strengthening Pakistan-Sichuan ties, he underlined that Pakistan and China were iron brothers and hoped that the Pakistan Food Festival will be a milestone in further deepening people-to-people and social ties between two iron brothers.
The Consul Generals of the US, Poland, Czech Republic, South Korea, Singapore, and Thailand attended the iftar dinner in additions to diplomats of various countries, media personalities and members of Sichuan’s academic, business, and government community. Alongside the iftar dinner an exhibition of traditional Pakistani handicrafts as well as that of Pakistan’s tourist spots was organized that captivated attention of the visitors.
