THE Pakistan High Commission and Pakistani community in Brunei Darussalam recently held a Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration at the Youth Centre in Bandar Seri Begawan with the Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan to Brunei Darussalam, Ahmed Ai Sirohey, as guest of honour.
In his speech, the acting high commissioner highlighted that the gathering aimed to strengthen ties and solidarity between the country�s Pakistani community members.
“Whoever attending is regarded as family, regardless whether they are Muslim or not, or of different ethnicity. This open house is for all and all are welcomed,” he remarked.
In addition to a wide variety of delicacies contributed by families from the community, famous cartoon character mascots were at hand to play with the children, who themselves also had an opportunity to win some fabulous prizes.
The event was jointly organised by Dr Aftab Rana and spouse, Haji Anayatullah, Dr Kamil, Dr Sajid, Dr Mubashar, Dr Rauf, Dr Asghar, Dr Kashif, Dr Irfan, Rao Hamid and Raheel. Some 150 people were at the Raya celebration, which also had quizzes for the attendees and goodie bags for the children.
