The High Commission for Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Brunei Darussalam celebrated 142 birthday of Founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. The programme was attended by large number of Pakistan living in Brunei Darussalam beside a sizeable number of locals. The celebration started with recitation of Holy Quran. Professor Ahmed Masood Khalid and Professor Afzal Hussain Seyal spokes on the life of the Founder of Pakistan. Professor Afzal informed the audience his early childhood, his journey to United Kingdom and achievement as accomplished Barrister. He also illustrated his political overtures from early 20th century. Professor Seyal also explains the moral and legal strength of the leader whose determination got us Pakistan.

Professor Ahmed Masood Khalid said that Jinnah as a person was straight forward, law abiding and democratic in nature. He strives for the freedom of Indian sub-continent from Colonial shackle without resorting to violent movement. He was champion of emancipation of Muslims in sub continent.

Dr. Muhammad Javed spoke about the struggle sacrifice and character of Mohammad Ali Jinnah as leader. He was trusted by the people.

Mr. Shahzad and Dr. Mubshair sang national song. The children were asked Quiz about life of Quaid-e-Azam M Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan.

The Acting High Commissioner Mr. Ahmed Ali Sirohey along with the community cut the birthday cake. The Acting High Commissioner also presented medal of friendship to Mr. Yousaf Sani who is departing from Brunei after completing his contract. The Acting High Commissioner in his speech said that Mohammad Ali Jinnah an underweight, malnourished child was born in house of a middle-class businessman Mr. Jinnah Punja on 25th December 1876 at a small town Jhirk, District Karachi, Sindh. He was educated in Karachi at Sindh Madrasa-tul-Islam which he left in 1892 for Higher education.

He went England and completed his education in 1896 from Lincoln’s Inn. He registered himself at Bombay High Court and also joined Indian ntionalCongress where he was considered as AN ambassador of Hindu Muslim Unity. It was he who helped to have Lucknow Pact between the Indian National Congress and Al-India Muslim League in 1916’s. In 1920 he resigned from Indian National Congress when it agreed to follow the campaign Satyagarh which he considered a political anarchy. He went England for the round table meeting with British Government in 1930 and stayed there. However on the insistence of Muslim League leaders he returned back in late 1930s.

He married young Parsi Ratti Bai in 1918 who gave birth to his only child Dina in 1919. By 1939 he was of the firm belief that Muslim must have separate state in North East part of Sub-continent. In 1940 he convened all India Muslim League convention in Lahore and passed Lahore Resolution on 24 March 1940 for a separate home land based on Muslim majority states from British.

Acting High Commissioner further elaborated that Quaid-e-Azam was still open for negotiated settlement for the political future of British India. When Cabinet Mission proposed a loose confederation of Indian states based on ABC Regional autonomous governments where, he accepted the plan and congress rejected. In 1947 Mr. Gandhi proposed Jinnah as first Prime Minister of united free India as last-ditch effort to keep India united. As per Mr. Jaswant Singh the leader of BJB Jinnah accepted the proposal and Congress leaders rejected. On 14th August 1947 Mr. Mohammad Ali Jinnah became the first Governor General of Pakistan. He set targets and principles for new state; unfortunately he did not survive for long and died on 11 September 1948.

The Acting High Commissioner said he was the only leader who got us Pakistan and took nothing from Pakistan and gave all his property to Pakistan. In the end the participant were served dinner.
