The High Commission for Pakistan in Brunei gifted calligraphy souvenirs to the SMARTER. The Acting High Commissioner Mr. Ahmed Ali Sirohey appreciated the noble work of the President/CEO of SMARTER Brunei and his team. He said when he brought these beautiful calligraphy pieces and an art piece; he thought whom to present and finally, he decided to present to the little stars of SMARTER the most deserving for this type of a gift.
He said that since he arrived in Brunei, he has been well-known to the excellent work that Malai Haji Abdullah Bin Malai Hj Othman has done in raising awareness among the society about autism, and ensured that there was an ideal atmosphere for children with special needs to learn.
“What you have done here for SMARTER Brunei, with limited resources but with willpower and clear vision on what’s really needed to be done to ensure that children and individuals with autism can properly be made productive part of society – your work is an inspiration for others,” he added.
Malai Haji Abdullah said that his work is down to his personal experiences including his time in the United Kingdom, which inspired him to establish SMARTER Brunei. He added that his strong determination and drive in the work comes from his own autistic son. Moreover, he said that his work is based on self-interest also i.e expecting a reward from Allah to grant him a house in paradise. He also informed about the future projects for the graduates of the institute. He showed the autistic children working in electronic, recycling and even coffee and bakery shops within the premises.
“Allah has given me strength and resources to look after these children who are my own children, they are special and need special treatment,” said Malai Haji Abdullah.
