THE High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Brunei Darussalam, Brigadier (Rtd) Muhammad Zareef Malik, congratulated Brunei Darussalam on the occasion of its 31st National Day.

“I express my heartiest felicitations to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, on behalf of the government and people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

“During the last 31 years, Brunei has made tremendous progress in every field of national development under the leadership of His Majesty.

“Over the years, Brunei’s role in regional and extra regional peace and stability, especially under the ambit of Asean and the OIC (Organization of the Islamic Conference) has been commendable. On the domestic front, people of Brunei Darussalam are fortunate to benefit from the benevolence of His Majesty, having access to free education and health, including subsidised fuel, electricity and food.

“To a large extent, their housing needs are also served and to top it all, their lives and prosperity have assured security.

“Pakistan and Brunei Darussalam have enjoyed brotherly relations in multifaceted fields, including politics, trade and investment, education and defence. The depth of these relations is manifested in a number of bilateral agreements, institutional mechanisms, exchange of high level visits and cooperation at multilateral forums between the two countries.

“Both the government and people of Pakistan hold His Majesty and the people of Brunei in high esteem. Pakistani expatriates contribute in the development of this brotherly country in health, education and trade.”

The High Commissioner expressed his hope for the continued enhancement of Pakistan-Brunei relations.
