Pakistan High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Major General (Retired) Tariq Rashid Khan, Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) presented his credentials before His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, at the Istana Nurul Iman on 25 October 2015.

His Majesty the Sultan congratulated General Tariq Rashid Khan on his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Brunei Darussalam, and expressed optimism to visit Pakistan and meet the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at the earliest possible date. The High Commissioner for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan earlier delivered the special message of His Excellency the President Mr. Mamnoon Hussain and His Excellency the Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mr. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.

Pakistan High Commissioner expressed his appreciation to His Majesty for Brunei’s hospitality in hosting Pakistanis community which is playing an effective fole in various professional fields in the country, and also highlighted tremendous scope which can futher enhance bilateral relations between Pakistan and Brunei.

For his part, the Sultan expressed satisfaction with the very close bilateral relations between the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Brunei and hoped to soon visit Pakistan.

General Tariq Rashid Khan is the eleventh High Commissioner to serve in Brunei Darussalam since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Brunei in 1984.
