Pakistan Independence Day Celebrations in Pretoria

Pakistan’s 75^th Independence Day was celebrated at Pakistan High Commission Pretoria. High Commissioner Mazhar Javed hoisted the flag. Special messages of President and Prime Minister on the occasion were read out.

The celebrations were attended by a large number of Pakistani community members who had gathered from various cities of South Africa.

High Commissioner Mazhar Javed recalled the historic significance of 14th August in the light of two-nation theory and recounted the sacrifices and struggle which led to the creation of Pakistan. Adding that the Jammu Kashmir dispute was an unfinished agenda of the partition process, he reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to stand with the Kashmiri brethren till the dispute is settled as per their aspirations and in accordance with UN resolutions.

The event culminated with prayers for Pakistan’s progress and prosperity, and a cake cutting ceremony.
