A simple dignified ceremony was held at the Embassy of Pakistan, Abidjan to commemorate first- ever Pakistan National Day. Members of Pakistani community and the Embassy Officials participated. The programme began with recitation from Holy Quran. After National Anthem of Pakistan, message of the President and the Prime Minister for the occasion were read out.

In this address, Ambassador Manzoor Chaudhry states that Pakistan National Day is observed every year to remember the historic events of March 23, 1940 when Muslims of Indian sub- Continent gathered at Lahore to formally put forward the demand for a separate homeland. The world witnessed that within a short span of seven years, their struggle bore fruit. He stated that Pakistan came into being through selfless struggle by Muslims under the capable leadership of Father of the Nation Muhammad Ali Jinnah. It is for us to take Pakistan to new glory as envisioned by Allama Muhammad Iqbal and Father of the Nation Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He said that we need to follow the teachings of the founders of the Pakistan and display unity, faith and discipline in our ranks.

The Ambassador urged the members of community to work as ambassador of Pakistan in Ivory Coast. He stated that our compatriots must follow all local laws and work for forging people to people contacts. He encouraged them to  work for the progress and prosperity of their Motherland.
