In line with well-established tradition of Navy Ships regarding Port Calls to friendly countries, Pakistan Navy Ships SHAMSHEER and NASR visited Muara Port, Brunei Darussalam from 11 – 15 October 2022.
The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) warmly welcomed the visiting ships on their arrival at Muara Port on 11 October 2022. Officials of the High Commission, Royal Brunei Navy and members of Pakistani community attended the welcome ceremony.
It may be noted that it was the first visit after lifting of Covid restrictions in Brunei Darussalam. The visit provided a good opportunity for training of officers and sailors of both Navies. They conducted various joint training activities and visited each other’s ships and training facilities.
The High Commissioner-designate Major General (R) Farhat Abbas Sani and Mission Commander Commodore Faisal Javed Sheikh jointly hosted a reception dinner onboard on 12 October 2022. First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Spry bin Haji Serudi @Haji Seruji, Commander of Royal Brunei Navy was the chief Guest. The dinner was attended by high-ranking officials of Negara Brunei Darussalam, trade bodies, academicians and prominent members of Pakistani community.
The ships were open for visitors on 13 and 14 October 2022. Heads of various diplomatic Missions and members of diplomatic corps along with their families visited PNS Shamsheer on 13th October 2022. They commended the opportunity and traditional hospitality onboard.
Students of International School of Brunei (ISB) visited ships on 14th October 2022. They were briefed about the operations and functions of the ships. They took keen interest and appreciated the opportunity for visiting the ship. Members of the Pakistani Community and their Bruneian friends also visited the ships on 14th October 2022.
The sailors of the ships played friendly matches including Tug of War, Basketball, Football and Cricket with local Bruneian teams. They also visited the main attractions in Brunei Darussalam.
The port calls by Pakistan Navy Ships will further strengthen the brotherly relations between Pakistan and Brunei Darussalam particularly in the field of defence.
The High Commission of Pakistan expresses its profound gratitude to all relevant Bruneian authorities for warm welcome, hospitality and making excellent arrangements for various activities for the ships and sailors.
