Press Releases|

A Pakistan military post at Nao Top (Bajaur Agency) came under fire raid and physical attack early this morning by over 200 terrorists crossing from the Afghan side. During the attack, one Pakistani soldier embraced shahadat while two were seriously injured. A protest was lodged with the Afghan Cd’A and the matter was also taken up by our Ambassador in Kabul with the Afghan Foreign Ministry.

To repulse the terrorist attack, Pakistan troops responded with artillery and aviation support. Any allegations about shelling on Afghan civilians inside Afghanistan are incorrect. The Pakistan aviation only fired on attacking terrorists.

Pakistan’s concerns about miscreants and terrorists attacking from the other side of the border have been repeatedly shared with Afghan authorities. We hope effective steps would be taken to prevent recurrence of such incidents. For its part, Pakistan would continue to exercise restraint and make efforts to maintain conducive environment for constructive engagement. We remain committed to maintaining a tranquil border especially in the run-up to second round of Afghan elections.
