Pakistan’s Participation in 21st ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meeting
The 21st ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial meeting will be held in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar on 10 August 2014. On the invitation of Mr. U Wunna Maung Lwin, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Syed Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs will lead the Pakistan delegation. The meeting will be attended by the Foreign Ministers and Representatives of all the 27 ARF participants and the Secretary-General of ASEAN.
ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) is the first region wide Asia-Pacific multilateral forum for official consultations on peace and security issues. It was established in 1993 as a regional political and security arm of ASEAN. Pakistan joined ARF in 2004.
The meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss common political and security issues and harmonize national foreign policy positions and objectives through dialogue and cooperation.
On the sidelines of the 21st ARF, Mr Tariq Fatemi will also hold bilateral meetings with other participating Ministers.
