Pakistan’s Adviser to Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Mr. Sartaj Aziz met with Chinese Foreign Minister Mr. Wang Yi today in Beijing ahead of the Fourth Ministerial Conference of the Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process, to be hosted by China on 31 October,2014.
During the meeting, both sides discussed a wide range of bilateral economic and security issues.
The Adviser said that Pakistan and China bilateral cooperation had deepened over the years and as strategic partners, both countries had a common stake in regional cooperation, peace and stability. Mr. Sartaj Aziz complimented China on hosting the 4th Round of Istanbul Process. Pakistan and China agreed to intensify efforts to contribute towards peace and stability in Afghanistan.
Both sides expressed satisfaction over the progress in their bilateral relations. He said that both countries are further reinforcing linkages in various fields including energy, communications, infrastructure, trade and connectivity. The China-Pakistan economic cooperation had immense potential to promote economic wellbeing of the peoples of the two countries and the region, he added.
Mr. Wang Yi thanked Mr. Sartaj Aziz for Pakistan’s continued support and cooperation. Mr. Sartaj Aziz will lead Pakistan delegation in the Heart of Asia Ministerial Meeting in Beijing tomorrow. At the Senior Officials meeting held today, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry led the Pakistan side which would finalize the joint communiqué for the Heart of Asia Ministerial Conference.
