In order to express solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiris in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) besieged by India’s decision of 5 August 2019, an event was held at the Embassy of Pakistan, Buchareston occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal.
The messages of the President, Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister were read out. Ambassador Dr. Zafar Iqbal, referring to the messages of Pakistan’s leadership, reiterated Pakistan’s continued unflinching political, diplomatic and moral support to the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted that, for the past four years, Kashmiris have suffered the worst human rights violations by Indian Occupation Forces including military siege and unprecedented restrictions on fundamental freedoms of Kashmiris, and underlined that India’s actions in Jammu and Kashmir could neither accord legitimacy to its occupation, nor would suppress the true sentiments of the Kashmiri people. Coercion and intrigue cannot replace legitimacy, he added.
The Ambassador called upon the international community to urge India to halt its human rights abuses, reverse demographic changes and India’s illegal actions of
5 August 2019 in IIOJK. He further added that Pakistan, as a party to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, stands ready to play its role in resolving this Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
A photo exhibition high lighting Indian atrocities in IIOJK valley was organized at the Chancery. A special video documentary on Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir was also played.
