The Embassy of Pakistan, Prague celebrated 79th National Day on 02 April at Hilton, Prague. Mr. Radek Vondracek, Speaker of the Czech Chamber of Deputies (Lower House of Parliament), Mr. Daniel Pawlas, Chairman, Pakistan-Czech Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group and Mr. Martin Tlapa, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic graced the occasion, as Chief Guest and the Guests of Honour respectively.

Ambassador Dr. Israr Hussain while speaking to the occasion underscored importance of strides in bilateral relation between two countries, especially economic cooperation and growth in bilateral trade. The Ambassador informed the guests about achievement of Pakistan; a Trillion Dollar economy, economic growth of 5.4% and business and investment opportunities under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Ambassador of Pakistan briefed about responsible role played by Pakistan and Prime Minister Imran Khan in de-escalation of Pakistan and India in the aftermath of Pulwama Incident. He particularly referred to the plight of Kashmiri’s in Indian held Kashmir and urged upon the world leader to help Kashmiri’s Right of Self-Determination as promised by numerous UN resolutions.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Radek Vondracek in his speech congratulated Pakistan on 79th National Day Anniversary. He particularly referred to the growing economic cooperation between the two countries and expressed satisfaction. He expressed his pleasure at the establishment of Pakistan-Czech Inter-Parliamentary Friendship in the Parliament of Czech Republic. He extended his best wishes for peace, progress and prosperity of Pakistan and longevity of bilateral relations.

Festivities included colorful programs to promote culture, traditions and values of Pakistan. The program was themed “Projection of soft image and peaceful cultural heritage of Pakistan though Sufi Music”. Pakistani duo Ms. Zermina Asif Chaudhry (Presidential award winner for Sufi music) and Ms. Ayesha Iqbal (Presenter at Pakistan’s National TV network) presented mystic Sufi music, which mesmerized the audience into ecstasy.

The reception was attended by diplomatic community based and accredited to Czech Republic, Czech parliamentarians, Czech intelligentsia, businessmen and Pakistani Diaspora in the Czech Republic. The guests were served signature Pakistan cuisine, exhibiting history of recipes, which, garnered great appreciation.
