Pakistan’s Adviser to Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Mr. Sartaj Aziz who is leading Pakistan’s delegation at the Fourth Ministerial Conference of the Istanbul Process on Afghanistan met with the Iranian Foreign Minister Mr. Javad Zarif today in Beijing on the sidelines of the Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process conference hosted by China.
Both the Adviser and Foreign Minister discussed the bilateral relations and were of the view that economic and trade relations would be further strengthened when next Joint Economic Commission meeting takes place in Islamabad in 2015. They maintained that a number of high level visits envisaged between the two countries, would also reinforce these ties. Both Foreign Minister Zarif and the Adviser agreed on the need to strengthen border management system between the two countries. It was emphasized that the established mechanism of border control and management should be utilized to address the border issues. Next meeting of Joint Border Commission is expected to be convened in the near future.
