THE Pakistani Deputy High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam, Ahmed Ali Sirohey, yesterday paid a visit to Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA).
During the visit, the foreign envoy was briefed by the permanent secretary about the ministry’s primary functions, including the monitoring of religious schools and the regulation of Syariah law, which is coordinated between the Islamic Religious Council and the Attorney’s General Chambers.
Ahmed Ali Sirohey then gave details of the Syariah law in Pakistan, which has an Islamic Ideology Council advising the government on various religious matters, as well as a Ministry of Religious Affairs to deal with the Haj pilgrimage and policy.
The visit ended with both sides promising cooperation in aspects of Syariah and other Islamic issues.
