At a ceremony held at the Air Head Quarters Pakistan Foreign Office Women’s Association (PFOWA) handed over a consignment of medicines and clothing worth Rs. 1 million as well as a cash donation of Rs. 2.2 million to support ongoing operations by the PAF for the flood affectees in Sindh.

The relief donation and material was presented by the President of PFOWA to Mrs. Rao Qamar Suleiman, wife of the Chief of the Air Staff and head of Pakistan Air Force Women Association (PAFWA).

Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Taranum Salman Bashir stated that the scale of the natural calamity and the suffering of our compatriots had deeply touched all citizens of Pakistan. The donations made by PFOWA to the national effort were token efforts to demonstrate solidarity and extend support to the affected people. She acknowledged the special effort made in this regard by PFOWA members and in particular Pakistan missions in Bangkok and Jeddah. She also expressed appreciation for the PAF’s efforts in establishing an air bridge to rush relief material to the affected people.

President PFOWA also apprised the gathering of PFOWA’s welfare activities in particular its reach out to those in need. As part of its moral and national obligation, PFOWA has also mobilized assistance for the affectees in last year’s floods throughout the country, and also constructed 42 homes and an elementary school in Sajawal, Sindh under a Pakistan Navy Rehabilitation Project.

PFOWA is a registered non-governmental organization bringing together spouses of Pakistan Foreign Service officers and Pakistan’s lady diplomats for charitable endeavours.
