Political Consultations with Italy

The first round of Political Consultations between Pakistan and Italy was held today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Pakistan’s delegation was led by Mr. Nadeem Riyaz, Additional Secretary (Europe) and Italy’s delegation was headed by Andrea Perugini, Director General for Asia of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Consultations were held under framework of the Strategic Engagement Plan (SEP) signed between Pakistan and Italy in 2013. During the talks, the entire gamut of bilateral relations was reviewed. Special focus was placed on strengthening political, economic, cultural and educational ties. It was decided to undertake exchange of business delegations and develop institutional linkages. The two sides agreed to increase interaction among Parliamentarians. Deliberations also focused on regional and global issues.

The next round of Political Consultations will be held in Rome.
