Mr. Wim Geerts, Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affair of The Netherlands called on the Foreign Secretary on 28th February 2014 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Political Director informed the Foreign Secretary that the Dutch government will continue its Diplomatic training program for Pakistani Diplomats at the Netherlands Institute of International Relations, Clingendael. Thanking the Dutch government on this gesture, the Foreign Secretary reiterated the desire of the Government of Pakistan to further enhance its relations with The Hague at political and economic level.

The Political Director also informed that the Netherlands wants to constructively engage with Pakistan in various sectors including energy, water management, agriculture and food security. In this backdrop, Mr. Simon Smits, Vice Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, will lead a delegation to Pakistan in March 2014.

Mr. Geerts commended the positive contribution of 40,000 strong Pakistani diaspora in the Dutch society. The Foreign Secretary stated that people to people contacts were very important for furtherance of bilateral ties.
