Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and President Hamid Karzai met again today and continued their talks on matters of common interest relating to bilateral relations, Afghan peace process, and the regional situation. The Prime Minister also hosted a luncheon this afternoon in honour of the Afghan President in Murree.
The talks were marked by cordiality and mutual understanding. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further deepen and broaden Pakistan-Afghanistan relations. It was agreed to continue to work together for the promotion of peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan. To this end, the two sides also agreed to maintain and enhance mutual engagement on issues of regional peace and stability.
President Karzai reiterated his invitation to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to visit Afghanistan. The Prime Minister accepted the invitation. The dates would be determined through diplomatic channels.
The visit of President Karzai has strengthened mutual understanding between the leadership of the two countries and their commitment to work closely for the promotion of common goals of peace, stability and prosperity.
